FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 7/5/13

Writer and Director Of Acort International’s Recently Acquired AXEMAN AT CUTTER’S CREEK Announces The Start Of Pre-Production On The New Feature Film ADAM K., To Be Lensed This September In Los Angeles and Santa Monica, CA.

With his previous endeavor AXEMAN AT CUTTER’S CREEK officially out of post-production and headed to multi-plexes and DVD/Blu-Ray later this year, writer/director Joston Theney announced today the launch of his new production company #Sinning Works and his re-teaming with AXEMAN AT CUTTER’S CREEK alumni Dylan Hobbs and Arielle Brachfeld for the company’s first feature film ADAM K.

Not one to usually stay tight-lipped, when asked for details on ADAM K., Theney only replied, “You think AXEMAN was a helluva villain, get ready for ADAM K.!  He’s the birth of a new breed of serial slasher.”

Hobbs, who fills the shoes of the titular character was a bit more quotable, “Adam K. is every lethal thought you’ve ever had.  He’s the personification of evil that oddly enough wants to be good, wants to be a good man, but it’s like the world won’t let him.  But where our moral compass might tell us to walk away, take a breather and give things another try – this guy will slit you open and bathe in your blood!”

“I’m just so ecstatic to be working with him (Joston Theney) again,” Brachfeld said, when asked about the project.  “And I know that the most important thing is keeping mum on the whole thing.  It’s the charm of his movies – the less you know walking in, the better.  But this one is one hell of a ride!”  Brachfeld fills the role of JANICE PARSONS and shares top billing with Hobbs.

As of this press release, the official cast list isn’t available, however a third name was dropped by Theney. Filling the role of DETECTIVE KELSEY ANDREWS is one Kristin Wheatley, who has worked with Theney previously.  When reached for comment, Wheatley seconded Brachfeld, “Just happy to be working with Joston again!  He’s a great storyteller and have woven a truly unnerving piece.  Can’t wait to start filming and jump into Kelsey’s skin, and neither can Adam K!”

About #Sinning Works

Shaun (Simon Pegg) lives a supremely uneventful life, which revolves around his girlfriend (Kate Ashfield), his mother (Penelope Wilton), and, above all, his local pub. This gentle routine is threatened when the dead return to life and make strenuous attempts to snack on ordinary Londoners. -Anthony Lane. via Amazon

THEATRE OF THE DERANGED II Official Trailer

James Cullen Bressack sent over the official trailer for THEATRE OF THE DERANGED II. The film seems to have upgraded, in my opinion, the directing core. The quality of this film seems light years ahead of the original film and there seems to be a couple of segments that seems real interesting like the mime segment. Check out the official trailer for THEATRE OF THE DERANGED II after the jump.

HATCHET III (2013) Review

I watched this film a little while back and just got lazy when it came to writing the review, so I stopped the nonsense and wrote something up. HATCHET III is the final installment in the franchise and the one I had the most fun watching. This is without a doubt a popcorn film and if you are a fan of bloodshed well then, just read the review after the jump.

What’s the film about?: A search and recovery team heads into the haunted swamp to pick up the pieces and Marybeth learns the secret to ending the voodoo curse that has left Victor Crowley haunting and terrorizing Honey Island Swamp for decades.

How was the film?: The HATCHET film series is a hate it or love it series. Adam Green’s franchise finally comes to end or does it? In this film Marybeth (Danielle Harris) is back to finally put an end to Victor Crowley (Kane Hodder). We thought she did the job in the last film, but it is a horror movie so the baddy comes back.

Marybeth turns herself in after the death of Crowley, but no one believes that is where the blood on her is from, except one person. As the cops go to investigate shit starts to happen and they eventually are joined by a small swat like team. This is where the action part of the film comes in and we get to see what Victor Crowley does best, kill. This film felt like it was Green’s ALIENS film of the HATCHET series. There was even a seen that reminded me of a scene from PREDATOR.

There is a lot of bloodshed in this film and it is what we have come to expect. The acting in the film was good with lots of noticeable names in it like Danielle Harris, Zach Galligan, Caroline Williams and Derek Mears. The Derek Mears, Victory Crowley fight was a nice surprise and Sid Haig’s scene was a fun watch. BJ McDonnell did a good job directing the film and gave use some good views amongst all the action/ chaos.

Rumor out there is that Green wants to release the trilogy as one big continuous film which either will piss of the haters or make the fans ecstatic. I have to say I had fun watching the film. The characters that did stupid shit died and no character no matter how important was spared from Crowley. I just don't know if I liked the way the film ended/ how it happened, but that is just my opinion.

What do you rate it?:

Tagline: Some legends never die.

Fun Fact: Many of the characters in Hatchet 3 are named after crew members from the original Hatchet film. SWAT team member "Mikaela Dougherty" is named after Green's friend and Trick R Treat director Michael Dougherty.

Indie Slasher Film SLEDGE (2013) Review

This weekend I also got the chance to watch the indie slasher film SLEDGE. The film took a different approach kind of playing up the so bad it is good aspect. It even does this by playing the film on a tv show that plays bad films. Anyway check out the review for SLEDGE after the jump.

What’s the film about?: Sledge hits you from the beginning with humor and originality. Opening with Assly's True American Horror television program, the action kicks off instantly with skull crushing deaths from the killer, Adam Lynch. Adam believes he is in a movie and video game that he has created in his head.

How was the film?: The film was interesting with the approach the filmmakers took. The actual film SLEDGE was shown as the movie of the week on the Assly’s True American Horror show. Assly is a puppet and his show only plays so bad it is good films. I have to say that this approach made watching SLEDGE fun. The character who is the villain is known as Adam Lynch and his weapon of choice is a sledge hammer, hence the title SLEDGE.

In the film we have a young woman watching the film on her tv and the film also has a few commercials for upcoming films that will be on the Assly program. The young woman also comments how bad the film is, but it is so bad she can’t take her eyes off of it. This part of the film also wraps around the film and will end the film.

The actual SLEDGE film took place in the woods where five people go camping. All of these characters did a good job acting wise. Nothing was overly bad or overly great so it doesn’t deter from the film. The Adam Lynch character, Sledge, is not the straight forward killer. He likes to throw out the one liners and some of them are quite funny. This approach again goes along with the premise of the film being on a late night horror show. He does wear a mask that covers everything but his mouth, which is painted grey to match the mask.

The way the film ends was a good way to make it possible for a potential second film. I won’t say how it ends to not spoil the film. In the end I had fun watching the film and feel if I watched it with the boys I probably would have enjoyed it even more. If you get a chance to see SLEDGE grab some beer and some friends and enjoy.

What do you rate it?:

Tagline: He is a psycho with a sledge.

Fun Fact: Many of the characters in Hatchet 3 are named after crew members from the original Hatchet film. SWAT team member "Mikaela Dougherty" is named after Green's friend and Trick R Treat director Michael Dougherty.
